Labour has lost a by-election to the Tories in central London amid the row over Sadiq Khan ’s plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street. Sadiq Khan ignited a huge row today after the Government gave the Labour Mayor new powers to force through a £150million pedestrianisation of Oxford Street. Mr Khan wants work to start within two years to remove all vehicles from the shopping street.
