A Fulton County jury has found Officer Oliver Simmonds not guilty in the deadly shooting of an alleged carjacking suspect in 2019.

The jury deliberated for over four hours over whether the officer’s life was in danger when he pulled the trigger.

Two individuals have been arrested in a fatal Hollywood Road NW shooting; the Atlanta Police Department reported investigation progress.

Nashville Police identified one victim as 22-year-old Jesus Gallardo-Ramirez, another as a 48-year-old man. Efforts continue to identify a third man.

A former Atlanta police officer was found not guilty of murder after being accused of killing a teenager who allegedly tried to steal his unmarked patrol car. The jury decided after only a few hours of deliberations.

The former officer, who was not on duty at the time, was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection to the shooting incident.
