Shawnee County leaders have approved the 2025 budget and the increases that come with it. The Shawnee County Board of Commissioners signed off on its 2025 budget Thursday morning. Overall, commissioners approved a budget that increased nearly $6 million from the 2024 budget.

Elected officials will receive a 9.2% raise this year – their first pay increase since 2016 – but Harris County's eight elected constables won an even higher 17.5% increase after taking their salary complaints to a grievance committee last month.

Harris County Commissioners passed a $2.67 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2025, which has generated heated and emotional comments from the public during the last couple of months.
